Biography
Noam Pitlik was an American actor and television director. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Temple University and began his career acting in a local Western series before moving to New York, where he appeared in an off-Broadway production of The Threepenny Opera in 1957. He later worked in Hollywood, appearing in guest roles on series including Hogan's Heroes, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Munsters, Get Smart and All in the Family, as well as films such as The Graduate (1967) and The Fortune Cookie (1966).
From the mid-1970s Pitlik concentrated on directing, helming more than 200 episodes across numerous series. He directed 102 episodes of Barney Miller, 11 episodes of Taxi (1978) and episodes of Wings, Mr. Belvedere and One Day at a Time. For his work on Barney Miller he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series in 1979, as well as a Peabody Award and a Directors Guild of America Award.
