Biography
Nzingha Stewart is an American director and producer. Born on 13 July 1974 in Brooklyn, New York, she was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School with a degree in philosophy in 1996. She began her career directing music videos and commercials before moving into television and film.
Stewart has directed episodes of series including Grey’s Anatomy (2005), Pretty Little Liars (2010), How to Get Away with Murder (2014), Scandal (2012), Station 19 (2018), Good Girls (2018), Maid (2021) and Inventing Anna (2022). Her feature directorial credits include Tall Girl (2019). She directed episodes of the series Spider-Noir (2026) and served as an executive producer on the film For Colored Girls (2010). She has received nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards, Directors Guild of America Awards and NAACP Image Awards.
