Biography
Olive Carey (born Olive Fuller Golden, also credited as Olive Golden) was an American actress whose career spanned silent films and later Westerns. Born in New York City in 1896, she was the daughter of vaudeville entertainer George Fuller Golden. She began acting in the 1910s, appearing in early films such as Tess of the Storm Country (1914).
In 1920 she married actor Harry Carey. She played Edith Trent in Trader Horn (1931) and made occasional appearances before retiring again after Naughty Marietta (1935). Following her husband's death in 1947, she resumed work as a character actress, notably as Mrs Jorgensen in The Searchers (1956) alongside her son Harry Carey Jr., and in films including Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957), The Alamo (1960) and Two Rode Together (1961). Her final screen role was in Billy the Kid Versus Dracula (1966).
Carey died in Carpinteria, California, in 1988.
