Biography
Othon José de Almeida Bastos is a Brazilian actor. Born on 23 May 1933 in Tucano, Bahia, he began his film career in 1962 with a role as the Reporter in The Given Word and has appeared in more than fifty films.
He is known for his performances as Corisco in Black God, White Devil (1964), the Professor in Antonio das Mortes (1969), Paulo Honório in São Bernardo (1972), Mr Lourenço in Behind the Sun (2001), and César in Central Station (1998). Bastos has also worked extensively in theatre and television.
He trained in London between 1956 and 1957 and has been married to actress Martha Overbeck since 1960.
