Biography
Otto Englander was a Bosnian-born American writer and story artist. Born on 17 February 1906 in Tuzla, he moved to the United States in the 1920s, studied at the Chester School of Art in New York and worked as an art director before entering animation in Los Angeles. He contributed to Walt Disney Productions from the early 1930s, writing stories for Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphonies shorts and serving on the story team for the studio's first feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
Englander received story credits on Pinocchio (1940), Fantasia (1940) and Dumbo (1941). In 1942 he moved to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer with writer Webb Smith, where he worked on the Barney Bear series. He returned to Disney in 1957 and contributed to the studio's anthology television series until his death on 13 October 1969 in Los Angeles.
