Biography
Pablo Larraín Matte is a Chilean filmmaker. He was born on 19 August 1976 in Santiago and studied audiovisual communication at the Instituto Profesional IACC. With his brother Juan de Dios Larraín he co-founded the production company Fábula in 2003.
Larraín directed Tony Manero (2008), Post Mortem (2010), No (2012), The Club (2015), Neruda (2016), Ema (2019) and El Conde (2023). He also directed the English-language films Jackie (2016), Spencer (2021) and Maria (2024), which form a trilogy about prominent twentieth-century women. In 2021 he directed the miniseries Lisey's Story.
Larraín and his brother co-produced Sebastián Lelio's A Fantastic Woman (2017). No (2012) was the first Chilean film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
