Biography
Pat Carroll (1927–2022) was an American actress and comedian. She began her career in the late 1940s with stage and early television work, making her Broadway debut in the 1955 revue Catch a Star!, for which she received a Tony Award nomination. She appeared regularly on The Danny Thomas Show and won a Primetime Emmy Award for her work on Caesar's Hour.
Carroll later took on numerous voice roles and guest appearances, including on Laverne & Shirley and ER. She is best known for voicing the sea witch Ursula in Disney's The Little Mermaid (1989) and its related media, as well as Morgana in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (2000). She also received a Drama Desk Award and a Grammy Award for her one-woman stage performance as Gertrude Stein.
