Biography

Paul Haslinger is an Austrian composer and musician. Born in Linz in 1962, he studied at the Vienna Academy of Music before joining the electronic group Tangerine Dream in 1986. He remained with the band until 1991, contributing to fifteen albums, four international tours, and film scores including Near Dark (1987) and Miracle Mile (1988). The Tangerine Dream score for the documentary Canyon Dreams (1987) received a Grammy nomination.

Haslinger relocated to Los Angeles in 1991. After programming work for composer Graeme Revell, his first solo scoring credit was the 2000 HBO film Cheaters. He has since composed for numerous films and television series, including the Underworld franchise (2003–2012), Crank (2006), Death Race (2008) and Monster Hunter (2020). On television he scored all four seasons of Halt and Catch Fire (2014–2017) and Fear the Walking Dead (2015–2017). He received an Emmy nomination for his work on the series Sleeper Cell (2005–2006).
