Biography
Paul Osborn (1901–1988) was an American playwright and screenwriter. Born in Evansville, Indiana, he grew up in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan. He made his Broadway debut in 1928 and went on to write original plays including The Vinegar Tree and Morning's at Seven, as well as adaptations such as On Borrowed Time.
Osborn wrote screenplays for numerous films, including Madame Curie (1943), The Yearling (1946), Portrait of Jennie (1948), East of Eden (1955), Sayonara (1957), South Pacific (1958) and Wild River (1960). He received Academy Award nominations for Sayonara and East of Eden, and a Tony Award for the 1980 Broadway revival of Morning's at Seven.
