Biography
Paul Wheeler was a British cinematographer. He began his career at the BBC in 1963 as a trainee projectionist and rose to senior film cameraman, with credits including the series Bergerac (1981) and Lovejoy (1986).
After leaving the BBC he worked freelance on productions such as Oklahoma! (1999) and King Lear (2008), both directed by Trevor Nunn. He was noted for his work in high-definition cinematography and served twice as Head of Cinematography at the National Film and Television School and once at the Royal College of Art. Wheeler wrote several books on the subject, including Principles of Cinematography, and received two BAFTA nominations. He died in 2021.
