Biography
Paula Trueman was an American stage, film and television actress. Born in New York City on 25 April 1897, she graduated from Hunter College and trained in dance and acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse. Her stage career began in the 1920s with revues such as The Grand Street Follies and included dozens of Broadway roles through to 1980, among them original productions of You Can't Take It With You (1936) and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1949).
She made her film debut in Crime Without Passion (1934) and later appeared in Paint Your Wagon (1969), The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), Annie Hall (1977), Zelig (1983), Dirty Dancing (1987) and Moonstruck (1987) as Lucy. Trueman also worked in television, including episodes of Tales from the Darkside. She died in New York City on 23 March 1994.
