Biography
Perce Pearce was an American producer, director and writer best known for his work with Walt Disney Productions. Born in Waukegan, Illinois, he joined the studio in 1935 as an inbetweener and quickly advanced to sequence director on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), for which he also served as a live-action model for the character Doc. He later contributed to story direction on Bambi (1942) and story development on Fantasia (1940).
After the Second World War Pearce became an associate producer on Song of the South (1946) and So Dear to My Heart (1948). He produced several of Disney’s early live-action features, including Treasure Island (1950), The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men (1952) and The Sword and the Rose (1953). Disney entrusted him with overseeing these British productions, and Pearce relocated to England, where he died in London in 1955.
