Biography
Peter Bowles (1936–2022) was an English actor known for his work in film, television and theatre. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began his career on stage with the Old Vic company in the 1950s before moving into screen roles.
His early film credits included the part of Ron in Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow-Up (1966). He later appeared in films such as The Bank Job (2008) and television series including Rumpole of the Bailey, Only When I Laugh, To the Manor Born (as Richard DeVere), The Irish R.M. and Victoria (as the Duke of Wellington). Bowles also created and starred in Lytton’s Diary.
