Biography

Peter Boyle is an English film editor. Born on 27 May 1946 in Formby, he graduated from Bradfield College and began his career as an assistant to director Richard Lester before editing commercials. His first feature film editing credit was McVicar (1980).

Boyle has edited more than 30 feature films. From 1988 to 2006 he worked on five films directed by Kevin Reynolds, including Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), Waterworld (1995), The Postman (1997) and Tristan & Isolde (2006). Other credits include Quills (2000), The Hours (2002) and 1408 (2007). His editing on The Hours earned nominations for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award and an ACE Eddie Award. He is a member of the American Cinema Editors.
