Biography
Peter Hambleton is a New Zealand actor and stage director. He graduated from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School in 1982 with a Diploma in Acting and has been a mainstay of the Wellington theatre scene, performing in numerous stage productions and directing several Shakespeare plays. In 2002 he was a New Zealand Shakespeare’s Globe International Actors’ Fellow.
Hambleton is known for playing the Dwarf Glóin in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit film trilogy (2012–2014), also providing the voice and motion capture for William the stone troll in the first film. His other screen credits include appearances in The Brokenwood Mysteries (2015) and various New Zealand television dramas and films.
