Biography

Peter Whitford is an Australian actor. Born in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1939, he graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1963.

He began his career in radio and theatre in the late 1950s before appearing in film and television from the late 1960s until 2010. His film credits include Uncle Julius in My Brilliant Career (1979), Les Kendall in Strictly Ballroom (1992), the Stage Manager in Moulin Rouge! (2001) and the Moderator in The Man Who Sued God (2001). Television roles include appearances in Bullpitt! (1997–1998) and All Saints (1999–2009), with his final credited performance in Rake (2010). He has also worked as a playwright, director and singer.
