Biography
Peter Zeitlinger (born 6 June 1960) is an Austrian cinematographer. Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, he studied from 1980 to 1987 at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.
He has worked extensively with director Werner Herzog since 1995, beginning with the documentary Death for Five Voices. Their collaborations include Grizzly Man (2005), Rescue Dawn (2007), Encounters at the End of the World (2008), Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009), Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010) and Into the Abyss (2011). Encounters at the End of the World received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature.
Zeitlinger is a member of the German Film Academy and has served as Professor of Cinematography at the University of Television and Film Munich.
