Biography
Philip Clarke, also credited as Phil Clarke, is a British television comedy producer and executive. Born on 14 May 1961 in Watford, he began his career as a producer at the BBC in radio and television before joining Talkback Productions as a senior comedy producer and editor.
In 2003 he produced the first series of Peep Show for Objective Productions. He subsequently founded and ran the comedy department at Objective, serving as producer or series producer on the first eight series of the show and as executive producer on other titles including Fresh Meat and Star Stories. In 2012 he became Head of Comedy at Channel 4, where he commissioned series such as Catastrophe and Chewing Gum.
Clarke left Channel 4 in 2017 to co-found the independent production company Various Artists Ltd with Jesse Armstrong, Sam Bain and Roberto Troni. Through the company he has produced or executive produced I May Destroy You, Sally4Ever and Such Brave Girls.
