Biography

Phillip J. Bartell is an American film editor, screenwriter, producer and director. He was born on 18 February 1970 in Quincy, Illinois, and graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 1992.

Bartell has edited feature films including Dear White People (2014), Miss You Already (2015), To All the Boys I've Loved Before (2018), Haunted Mansion (2023) and Lilo & Stitch (2025). He has also edited episodes of the series Dear White People (2017–2021). As a director, he helmed Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds (2006) and the second season of SKAM Austin (2019).
