Biography
Pierre Lhomme was a French cinematographer. Born in Boulogne-Billancourt on 5 April 1930, he trained at the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière and began working in film in the 1950s.
He shot Army of Shadows (1969) for Jean-Pierre Melville, The Mother and the Whore (1973) for Jean Eustache, Maurice (1987) for James Ivory, Camille Claudel (1988) for Bruno Nuytten and Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) for Jean-Paul Rappeneau. He also co-directed the documentary Le Joli Mai (1963) with Chris Marker and worked on several Merchant-Ivory productions. Lhomme received César Awards for best cinematography for Camille Claudel and Cyrano de Bergerac.
He died in Arles on 4 July 2019.
