Biography
Pieter Bourke is an Australian musician, composer, producer and audio engineer. He grew up in Melbourne and was largely self-taught as a percussionist and keyboardist. In 1987 he formed the electronic pop rock band Eden, with whom he released several recordings in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
From 1993 Bourke collaborated with industrial musician David Thrussell, contributing to the band Snog and the ambient duo Soma. From 1995 he worked extensively with Lisa Gerrard, co-writing and performing on the 1998 album Duality and providing the score for Michael Mann’s film The Insider (1999).
Bourke and Gerrard received Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Score for both The Insider (2000) and their score for Ali (2001). He has also composed for other films and formed the dub reggae project Secret Masters.
