Biography
Rainer Bock is a German actor. Born in Kiel in 1954, he ran a café there after leaving school before training at a private drama school in the city. He made his professional theatre debut in 1982 at the Stadttheater Kiel and went on to hold engagements at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theatre, the National Theatre Mannheim, the Staatstheater Stuttgart (1995–2001) and the Bavarian State Theatre in Munich (until 2011).
Bock appeared in supporting roles in film and television from the late 1990s. He gained wider attention for his performance as the doctor in Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon (2009), which earned him a nomination for the German Film Prize. He has since worked in international productions including Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (2009), Steven Spielberg's War Horse (2011) and the AMC series Better Call Saul (2018) as Werner Ziegler. He is also active as a voice actor.
