Biography
Ray Austin (5 December 1932 – 17 May 2023) was a British television and film director, writer, producer and former stunt performer and actor. Born in London, he began his career as a stunt performer on films including North by Northwest (1959) and Spartacus (1960). He served as stunt coordinator on 50 episodes of The Avengers (1965–1967) before directing two episodes of the series in 1968.
Austin directed episodes of numerous series including The Saint (1968), Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969–1970), Space: 1999 (1975–1976), The New Avengers (1976–1977) and Zorro (1989–1992, 50 of 88 episodes). He also directed made-for-television films such as The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1983) and worked extensively in the United States on shows including Wonder Woman, Airwolf, Magnum, P.I. and JAG.
