Biography
Richard Dysart was an American actor. He appeared in supporting roles in films including Being There (1979), The Thing (1982) as Dr. Copper, Mask (1985), Pale Rider (1985) as Coy LaHood and Wall Street (1987). He also provided voice work for animated series such as Batman: The Animated Series (1992) and Spawn (1997).
Dysart was a founding member of the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and received a Drama Desk Award in 1972. He is best known for playing Leland McKenzie in the television series L.A. Law (1986–1994), appearing in every episode and winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 1992.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on 30 March 1929, Dysart died in Santa Monica, California, on 5 April 2015.
