Biography

Richard Thomas is an American actor. He was born on 13 June 1951 in New York City and made his Broadway debut at the age of seven in Sunrise at Campobello (1958). His early film roles include Winning (1969) and Last Summer (1969).

Thomas is best known for playing John-Boy Walton in the CBS series The Waltons (1972–1977). For the role he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and two Golden Globe Award nominations. Later credits include Bill Denbrough in the miniseries It (1990), Walter Gaskell in the film Wonder Boys (2000), Frank Gaad in The Americans (2013–2016) and Nathan Davis in Ozark (2017–2022).
