Biography

Robert De Mora was an American costume designer. Born Robert Schuler DeMora Jr on 22 October 1934 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he began designing for high school plays in the 1950s.

His film credits include Marathon Man (1976), Cruising (1980), Risky Business (1983), Grease 2 (1982), The Last Dragon (1985) and Clifford (1994). He also worked as assistant costume designer on The Birdcage (1996). De Mora maintained a long collaboration with Bette Midler, designing costumes for her stage shows, films, television specials and concert tours over more than four decades.

He received two Primetime Emmy nominations for art direction and costume design on the 1997 Bette Midler special Diva Las Vegas. De Mora also designed costumes for Broadway productions including Bette Midler (1973) and Leader of the Pack (1985). He died on 21 September 2020 in Jeffersonville, New York.
