Biography
Ron Fricke is an American film director and cinematographer born on 24 February 1953. He is known for his work in time-lapse photography and large-format cinematography, particularly on non-narrative films.
Fricke served as cinematographer, editor and co-writer on Godfrey Reggio's Koyaanisqatsi (1982). He later directed and photographed the IMAX film Chronos (1985) and the feature Baraka (1992), for which he designed custom 65 mm camera equipment. His subsequent films include Samsara (2011). He has also contributed additional photography to Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005) and Megalopolis (2024).
