Biography

Roy Boulter is a British producer and writer. Born on 2 July 1964 in Liverpool, he began his career as a member of the band The Farm before moving into scriptwriting for television series including Brookside, Hollyoaks, The Bill, EastEnders and The Street.

In 2000 he co-founded the Liverpool-based production company Hurricane Films with Sol Papadopoulos. Their early feature productions include Under the Mud (2006). Boulter produced Terence Davies’s documentary Of Time and the City (2008), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.

Subsequent credits as producer include Davies’s Sunset Song (2015) and A Quiet Passion (2016), A Prayer Before Dawn (2017), Sometimes Always Never (2018), The Boat (2019) and The Last Bus (2021). He has also directed the documentary Algorithm Party (2024).
