Biography
Sol Papadopoulos is a British film and television producer and director. He is the co-founder, with Roy Boulter, of Liverpool-based production company Hurricane Films.
Papadopoulos began his career as a marine engineer before working as a stills photographer. After a short course at the National Film School he moved into documentary production and direction, winning six Royal Television Society awards, a US Cine Golden Eagle and two BAFTA nominations. Hurricane Films has produced feature films including three directed by Terence Davies: Of Time and the City (2008), Sunset Song (2015) and A Quiet Passion (2016). Other credits include A Prayer Before Dawn (2017), Sometimes Always Never (2018), The Boat (2019) and The Last Bus (2021).
He has also worked as a second unit director and directed documentaries, and lectures at several UK universities.
