Biography

Ruairí O'Brien is an Irish cinematographer. He completed a Post Leaving Cert course in TV and film production and graduated from the Institute of Art, Design & Technology in Dún Laoghaire in 1996. He began with set-cleaning work and low-budget projects before moving into documentaries and drama.

O'Brien's credits include cinematography on the series Line of Duty (2012) and The Fall (2013). Other work encompasses Five Minutes of Heaven (2009), Sea Fever (2020), Dating Amber (2020) and Vigil (2021). He is a founding member of the Irish Society of Cinematographers and was invited to join the British Society of Cinematographers in 2022. He received Irish Film and Television Award nominations for Five Minutes of Heaven and The Fall.
