Biography
Ruth Barrett is a British film and television composer. She studied music at Cambridge University and composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She began her career composing for theatre and commercials, later working in post-production at ITV before establishing the music production company Rubykon with composer and engineer Ruskin Williamson.
Barrett is known for her scores on television series including Bodyguard (2018), Victoria (for which she received a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2017), Sanditon (2019), Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021–2025), The Terminal List (2022), and The Girlfriend (2025). Her film credits include Harry Brown (2009, co-composed with Martin Phipps), Toast (2010), and City of Tiny Lights (2016). She has also scored The Old Guard 2 (2025) and The Terminal List: Dark Wolf (2025).
