Biography
Sandra Ellis Lafferty is an American actress. She began her career as a stage actor and was named best actress for a season by the Denver drama critics while a member of the Denver Center Theatre Company; she was also named best actress by Westword magazine. She started working in film at the age of 50, after a small role in Dogfight (1991).
Lafferty has appeared in guest roles on television series including NYPD Blue, Melrose Place, Baywatch and Boy Meets World. Her film roles include Maybelle Carter in Walk the Line (2005), Greasy Sae in The Hunger Games (2012) and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), Mrs Milland in Prisoners (2013), Phyllis Jensen in Self/less (2015) and the Widow Deborah in A Walk in the Woods (2015). She has also worked in independent films and volunteers as artistic director at the Mentone Arts & Cultural Center, mentoring high school theatre students.
