Biography
Sara Driver is an American independent filmmaker and actress. Born Sara Miller Driver on 15 December 1955 in Westfield, New Jersey, she studied theatre and classics before earning an MFA in film from New York University.
She gained early recognition as producer of Jim Jarmusch's Permanent Vacation (1980) and Stranger Than Paradise (1984), in which she also appeared as the Girl with Hat. Driver has directed the features Sleepwalk (1986) and When Pigs Fly (1993), the short You Are Not I (1981), and the documentary Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat (2017). She has contributed as a script consultant or story consultant on several Jarmusch films, including Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) and Broken Flowers (2005).
