Biography
Sarah Peirse is a New Zealand actress who works in film, television and theatre. She began acting in the late 1970s and studied for a year at a drama school associated with Auckland’s Theatre Corporate.
She is known for her role as Honorah Parker Rieper in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures (1994), for which she received the New Zealand Film and Television Award for Best Supporting Actress. Other notable screen roles include Linnet in Vincent Ward’s The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey (1988) and Kate in Rain (2001). She has appeared in the Hobbit films (2013–2014), Mortal Engines (2018), Sweet Tooth (2021) and later features such as A Mistake (2023).
Peirse has also worked extensively on stage, including periods with the Melbourne Theatre Company, and has directed theatre.
