Biography
Satoko Okudera is a Japanese screenwriter. She is known for her work on both live-action films and anime, including several collaborations with director Mamoru Hosoda.
Okudera graduated from the Literature Department of Tokai University in Tokyo. She worked for an oil company until 1991 before becoming a full-time writer. Her early screenplays include Moving (1993) and School Ghost Stories (1995), the latter nominated for the Japan Academy Prize for Best Screenplay.
She wrote the screenplays for Hosoda's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006), Summer Wars (2009) and Wolf Children (2012). Other credits include The Princess and the Pilot (2011), Kiki's Delivery Service (2014) and Cafe Funiculi Funicula (2018).
