Biography

Sharon Calahan is an American cinematographer at Pixar Animation Studios. She joined the studio in 1994 as lighting supervisor on Toy Story (1995). She was director of photography on A Bug's Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999) and Finding Nemo (2003), and held lighting director or similar roles on Ratatouille (2007), Cars 2 (2011), The Good Dinosaur (2015) and Onward (2020).

Calahan studied illustration, graphic design and photography at Spokane Falls Community College, following her graduation from Othello High School in Washington. She previously worked as an art director in Spokane television and as a lighting director at Pacific Data Images. In 2014 she became the first member of the American Society of Cinematographers admitted on the basis of a career entirely in animation. She received a BAFTA nomination for visual effects on A Bug's Life.
