Biography
Sharron Miller is an American television and film director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in theatre in 1971 and attended graduate school in film at Northwestern University. She began her career in Hollywood as a script supervisor before working as a sound and film editor, and directed her first professional project in 1976 on the series The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams.
Miller is known for directing episodes of series including Cagney & Lacey (1985–1988) and L.A. Law (1986–1987), as well as the 1978 film The House of the Dead. In 1983 she produced and directed the ABC Afterschool Special The Woman Who Willed a Miracle, for which she became the first woman to win the Directors Guild of America Award for a dramatic narrative work. She received Emmy and DGA Award nominations for her work on Cagney & Lacey.
