Biography
Shawn Hatosy, also credited as Shawn Wayne Hatosy, is an American actor and director. Born on 29 December 1975 in Frederick, Maryland, he began performing in school plays and local theatre as a child before graduating from Linganore High School in 1994.
Hatosy is known for film roles including In & Out (1997), The Faculty (1998), Outside Providence (1999), Anywhere but Here (1999), The Cooler (2003) and Alpha Dog (2006). On television he has collaborated frequently with producer John Wells, appearing as Detective Sammy Bryant in Southland (2009–2013), Andrew “Pope” Cody in Animal Kingdom (2016–2022) and Dr. Jack Abbot in The Pitt (2025–present). He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for the first season of The Pitt and has directed episodes of the series.
