Biography
Sheila Flitton is an Irish actress from Cork. Her screen credits include Mrs McCormick in The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), Lyudmila in The Northman (2022), the church cleaner in The Commitments (1991), neighbour roles in The Snapper (1993) and The Van (1996), Nancy Power in Rawhead Rex (1986), and Granny Byrne in The Food Guide to Love (2013). She is one of only two actors, alongside Colm Meaney, to appear in all three films adapted from Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown Trilogy.
Flitton began her career in theatre after training at the Brendan Smith Academy. In 2004 she received a nomination for best actress at the Irish Times Theatre Awards for playing Mag in Martin McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
