Biography
Sheila Gish, born Sheila Anne Syme Gash, was an English actress. She was born in Lincoln on 23 April 1942 and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before making her stage debut in repertory theatre.
Best known for her stage performances, Gish won the Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical for her role in the 1995 London revival of Company. Her film appearances included Anna in Quartet (1981), Rachel Ellenstein in Highlander (1986) and Mrs Norris in Mansfield Park (1999). She also appeared in many television dramas, such as The First Churchills and Love in a Cold Climate (2001).
Gish had two daughters, actresses Kay Curram and Lou Gish, with her first husband, actor Roland Curram. She later married actor Denis Lawson. She died on 9 March 2005.
