Biography
Shelly Johnson, ASC (born 28 April 1960) is an American cinematographer. He grew up in Pasadena, California, attended Blair High School and graduated from the Art Center College of Design in 1980. He began working as a cinematographer in 1980 and became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers in 2000; he was elected its president in 2023.
Johnson is a frequent collaborator with director Joe Johnston. Their joint credits include Jurassic Park III (2001), Hidalgo (2004), The Wolfman (2010) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). Other feature credits include Sky High (2005), The House Bunny (2008), The Expendables 2 (2012), Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013), Greyhound (2020) and Honest Thief (2020). He has received four ASC Award nominations.
