Biography
Shepperd Strudwick was an American actor of stage, film and television. Born in Hillsborough, North Carolina, he graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1928 and made his New York stage debut that year in a revival of The Yellow Jacket. He appeared in over 200 roles across his career, including more than 35 leading parts on Broadway.
In films he is known for playing Adam Stanton in All the King's Men (1949), Anthony Vickers in A Place in the Sun (1951) and Father Massieu in Joan of Arc (1948). He also appeared in The Reckless Moment (1949) and Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (1956). On television he had roles in The Twilight Zone (1959), Perry Mason (1957) and several soap operas, including Jim Matthews in Another World and Victor Lord in One Life to Live. He received a North Carolina Award for excellence in the performing arts in 1963 and a Tony Award nomination in 1981.
