Biography
Signe Byrge Sørensen is a Danish film producer. She was born on 6 March 1970 in Copenhagen and grew up in Maribo. She holds an MA in International Development Studies and Communication from Roskilde University and completed the Eurodoc and EAVE programmes. She began producing films in 1998 and co-founded the production company Final Cut for Real in Copenhagen in 2009 with Anne Köhncke.
Sørensen is best known for her work with director Joshua Oppenheimer. She produced The Act of Killing (2012) and The Look of Silence (2014), both of which received Academy Award nominations for Best Documentary Feature. Other credits include TPB AFK: The Pirate Bay – Away from Keyboard (2013), The Nile Hilton Incident (2017) as co-producer, Strong Island (2017) as co-producer, Flee (2021) and The End (2024).
She has received the Roos Prize and the Ib Prize. In 2020 a survey by the Danish newspaper Politiken named her the most powerful documentary producer in Denmark. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Danish Film Academy.
