Biography
Simonetta Stefanelli is an Italian actress. She began her career as a teenager with small roles in Italian films from 1968.
She is internationally known for playing Apollonia Vitelli-Corleone in The Godfather (1972). Other credits include In the Name of the Italian People (1971), Three Brothers (1981) as Young Donato's wife, and Close Friends (1992). She retired from acting after the latter film.
Stefanelli was married to actor and director Michele Placido from 1989 to 1994; they have three children, including actress Violante Placido. She later worked as an entrepreneur and fashion designer.
