Biography
Stephan Franck is a Franco-American animator, writer, director and comics creator. He supervised the animation of the first season of the Disney+ series What If...? (2021) and directed several episodes across its second and third seasons, including "What If... Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?" and "What If... the Watcher Disappeared?".
He directed the television film The Smurfs: The Legend of Smurfy Hollow (2013), for which he received an Annie Award nomination. Franck is co-creator of the animated series Corneil & Bernie (2003–2006) and has worked as a story artist on films including Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and Despicable Me (2010).
In comics, he writes and illustrates the graphic novel series Silver, which earned a Russ Manning Award nomination in 2014, and the neo-noir series Palomino, nominated for a Ringo Award in 2024.
