Biography
Stephen Ure is an Australian actor and director. He was born on 28 March 1958 in St Leonards, Sydney, New South Wales. He trained for three years at the Sydney Acting School and has worked primarily in New Zealand film and television.
Ure is known for his roles in Peter Jackson's Middle-earth films, including Grishnakh in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and Gorbag in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). He also appeared as Fimbul and Grinnah in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) and as Fimbul in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013). Other film credits include a Satyr in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Pewsey in Mortal Engines (2018), Rikki Daggers in Deathgasm (2015) and Howard in X (2022).
He has directed the short film Walter (2012) and has appeared in television series including Ash vs Evil Dead (2015) and The Brokenwood Mysteries (2022).
