Biography
Steven A. Katz is an American screenwriter and television writer. He received a B.A. in English and Art History from Brown University in 1982 and an M.A. in English from Columbia University in 1984, and lives in New York City.
His credits include teleplays for the Showtime anthology series Fallen Angels (1993–1995) and writing and producing duties on the Cinemax series The Knick (2014–2015). He wrote the screenplay for the feature film Shadow of the Vampire (2000), for which he received a Bram Stoker Award, and episodes of the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon (1998). Other work includes the screenplay for Wind Chill (2007, with Joseph Gangemi) and teleplays for Manhunt: Unabomber (2017).
The Knick received a Peabody Award. Katz has also written a monograph on the artist Walton Ford.
