Biography
Steven Soderbergh is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, cinematographer and editor. He was born on 14 January 1963 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Soderbergh's breakthrough came with the independent film sex, lies, and videotape (1989), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. He later directed Out of Sight (1998), Erin Brockovich (2000) and Traffic (2000), for which he received the Academy Award for Best Director. His other notable films include the Ocean's trilogy (2001–2007), Contagion (2011), Magic Mike (2012), Logan Lucky (2017), Kimi (2022), Magic Mike's Last Dance (2023) and Black Bag (2025). He has frequently served as his own cinematographer under the name Peter Andrews and editor under the name Mary Ann Bernard.
More recent credits include directing, cinematography and editing on The Christophers (2026).
