Biography

Sue Gibson (8 November 1952 – 27 July 2016) was a British cinematographer. She graduated from the National Film and Television School in 1981 and began her career as a clapper loader before becoming a director of photography in 1983, initially working in commercials.

Her first feature film was Hear My Song (1991), for which she shared an Evening Standard Film Award for technical achievement. She went on to photograph Mrs Dalloway (1997), The Forsyte Saga (2002) and episodes of Spooks (2002). In 1992 she became the first female member of the British Society of Cinematographers and served as its first female president from 2008 to 2010.
