Biography
Andy Wilson is a British film, television and theatre director. Born in 1958 in London, he began his career as a performer in alternative theatre and circus, appearing with Circus Lumière and the French troupe Archaos. He directed and performed with Rational Theatre from 1982 to 1989, having studied drama at Birmingham University.
Wilson transitioned to screen work by directing music videos, including collaborations with Underworld, and commercials. His early television directing included Bouinax in Love (1989) for La Sept and episodes of Cracker (1993), for which he received a CableACE Award. He made his feature debut with Playing God (1997), starring Angelina Jolie and David Duchovny.
He has directed episodes of series including Gormenghast (2000), The Forsyte Saga (2002), Spooks, Agatha Christie's Poirot, Ripper Street, Endeavour, Wallander and Unforgotten, serving as the primary director across multiple series of the latter.
